It's rare that I'm genuinely shocked by sexism and ageism (which often go hand-in-hand) as they are so commonplace but this LinkedIn TV ad stopped me in my tracks. My Mum is in her 70s and is certainly no technophobe. As for other people I know who struggle with computers (and feel a deep shame because they do), it is almost always because of either an interface that is impossible to use or because of a disablity such as poor eyesight or because of a lack of broadband in rural areas.
When I was trying to find a decent, simple device for an elderly relative to use to listen to podcasts I could never found one. If the attitude behind this kind of app is prevalent in Silicon Valley I understand why.
Bonus rant: and, by the way, if pretty much everyone I know is perplexed by social media platforms these days we all know exactly why - it's because the purpose is not to serve the user's needs because the user isn't the client but the raw material (or whatever the correct economist term is)
